For Christmas this year, I'm embracing changing traditions. Christmas, as I knew, grew up with, and loved, will be different. I'll miss having Great Granny Sugar here. I'll miss Christmas Eve Rummy games with my family, staying up with siblings in nervous anticipation for the next day, and then waking up with all my siblings to presents under the tree. Underneath the tree remains bare until we wake up in the morning. Is your tree the same way?

Now, Christmas Eve will be just me and the parents, watching tv. Christmas morning, it will just be my youngest sister and I, plus parents, opening presents. My brother and sister, plus spouses, and nephews, will stop by at different times of the day. Being the oldest, I think it affects me the most, and I can't help but miss the past. We've grown up, and so a new chapter begins. I can't wait!

I had a very different Christmas this year, too, since I didn't go home for it and spent it with just my husband. But you're right -- it's best to focus on new traditions instead of the things you're missing. Hope your Christmas was great. :)
