It's February, so in honor of the Superbowl in New Orleans this weekend, and with Mardi Gras, right around the corner, I thought I'd create these easy nails. While I've never experienced Mardi Gras, I have been to New Orleans and it's my favorite city in the US. Check out my New Orleans pics here. The inspiration for these nails came from the colors and textures, like these feather boas I saw there. Enjoy!

Paint green base color and allow to dry.
Paint a stripe of clear polish. Green will work too.
Pour yellow flocking powder on top.
I add mine over a Post It note folded in half, so I can reuse the extra powder.
Repeat with the clear stripe and this time use purple flocking powder.
Tap off excess. That's it!

- I don't add a clear coat to the decorated nails, as it ruins the effect. The powder stays on the nails a couple of days. Just repeat the process if desired.
- There are so many variations that you can do with these nails! While I chose to do just the accent nail, try all of them. Flocking powder isn't needed--just use yellow and purple polishes.
Have a great weekend. Be safe, behave, and be well. Love, Elle

I love the powder look! that is so nice!
I have never heard of flocking powder, that's pretty neat.
Hope you have a fun weekend, lady!
Your nails are always so fun!! And now for some King Cake... ;)
This nail tutorial really appeals to me because it looks so simple - although I love painting my nails, I'm one of those girls who finds the painting part hard enough :) Whenever I see a tutorial with more than two steps after the painting, I just have to shake my head and recognise I'll never be able to replicate it. But this - this I can do :) Thanks for sharing, Elle!

This is so intriguing!
I'm with you- I adore New Orleans!
Those are some fancy nails. I rarely polish my nails because I do dishes and other chores so often, but these are so festive.
How fun! I need to give flocking powder a try.
I love this, how cute and so fun!

Your nails are so adorable. I would have never thought to use the powder from a crafting store.

This is so cute! I'm terrible at doing my own nails but yours came out great! Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday! I'm now following your beautiful blog too :)
The flocking powder accent nail is super cute :) Great manicure idea!
I can't even believe Mardi Gras is coming up so quick! (I've decided to cheer for the 49ers, by the way. Still wishing Atlanta had made it!)
So fun! Love the fuzzy nail :)
This is such a great idea! I love the colors.
The base color is so pretty, moreso with the powdery coating. I would love to experience Mardi Gras someday. Happy weekend Elle :)

SO cool! I hardly ever paint my nails though, because with the boys - they'd chip before the end of the day. Sigh.
So cool! I love this nail look. Will have to try and recreate this for sure.
